ACUITE Ratings & Research Ltd., set up in 2005, is a joint initiative of SIDBI, along with leading public, foreign and private sector banks and Dun & Bradstreet Information Services India Private Limited (D&B) for creation of an SME focused Credit Rating Agency to provide comprehensive, transparent and reliable ratings and risk profiling.

ACUITE is registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for assigning rating to debt instruments and is also accredited by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as an External Credit Assessment Institution (ECAI), for Bank Loan Ratings under BASEL-II norms. ACUITE is also empanelled with National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), the nodal agency of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India to provide ACUITE-D&B-NSIC Micro & Small Enterprises Rating for MSEs in India. Further, ACUITE has also entered into MoUs with over 40 banks, financial institutions and trade associations of the country and its pioneering work is recognized globally.

ACUITE employs a rich mix of professionals which includes MBA’s, CAs, CFAs, FRMs, Economists, Statisticians and Engineers. ACUITE has its Registered and Head Office in Mumbai, branches at 9 cities and representatives in more than 50 clusters across India.

ACUITE operates through a huge corporate database that provides accurate industry-wise benchmarks and insights, enabling ACUITE to offer a transparent, rigorous and efficient rating process that is fair and reliable.

Achievements of ACUITE

  • Since its incorporation, ACUITE has assigned ratings to more than 50,000 MSME units out of which MSEs accounted for 98%.
  • SIDBI was awarded ‘Outstanding Development Project Award’ in SME Development Category for setting up ACUITE by The Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP).
  • ACUITE received the Certificate of Permanent Registration as a Credit Rating Agency from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on May 03, 2016. ACUITE has become India’s sixth rating agency to get permanent registration, a major achievement in the history of ACUITE.
  • ACUITE was a part of the Committee set up by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India to review the guidelines for Performance & Credit Rating (PCR) Scheme (implemented through NSIC) to increase its credibility and effectiveness for both borrowers and bankers. The Ministry accepted all suggestions of the Committee and notified the new scheme guidelines in May 2016.
  • ACUITE took a significant step in ensuring that Valuable Certificates issued by SME Rating & Grading Division to its clients were highly secure. Thus, each Certificate as well as the Report now has the QR code (a security feature) to verify the genuineness and validity of the Certificate – a first of its kind in the industry.
