Shri Mohammad Mustafa

Mr. Mohammad Mustafa, IAS, has been the Chairman and Managing Director of Small Industries Development Bank of India since August 2017. Mr. Mustafa served as Joint Secretary of Department of Financial Services at Government of India since March 2014. He served as the Chairman of the Board of National Housing Bank from May 13, 2014 to July 13, 2015 and as its Managing Director from May 13, 2014 to July 13, 2015. He served as Government Nominee Director of The New India Assurance Co. Ltd., since September 9, 2015 until October 27, 2017. He has been a Director of Small Industries Development Bank of India since August 2017. He served as a Non-Executive Nominee Director of Bank of Baroda since November 25, 2014 until August 26, 2017. He served as Government Nominee Director of Union Bank of India since September 30, 2013 until November 25, 2014 and Andhra Bank from September 25, 2012 to October 4, 2013.

Mr. Manoj Mittal, Deputy Managing Director (DMD), has over 28 years of experience in development banking. He is a strong votary of “Credit Plus” approach for the development of the MSME (Micro Small & Medium Enterprises) sector. As DMD of SIDBI, he has been, inter alia, overseeing Direct Credit, Venture Capital, Corporate Accounts, Promotion & Development, Stressed Asset & NPA Management Compliance functions, etc. Presently, he is a Nominee Director on the Boards of SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd. (SVCL), India SME Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd. (ISARC), Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency Ltd. (MUDRA) and India SME Technology Services Ltd. (ISTSL). He is also a member of the Governing Board of “SIDBI Centre for Innovation in Financial Inclusion” set up at IIM-Lucknow and Executive committee of Indian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (IVCA).

In his role as the Additional Secretary to the Government of India and Development Commissioner for the Ministry of MSME Shri Ram Mohan Mishra works on comprehensive policy making for the SME sector in India. He has over 30 years of experience as an Indian Administrative Service officer having worked in the field of General Administration, Mines and Minerals, Programme Implementation, Planning, Banking and Institutional Finance, Revenue, Environment & Forests, Water Resources, Commerce & Industry, Personnel Management, Home Affairs, Land Revenue, etc. He is a Law Graduate, Masters in Geography and has studied Public Finance at Maxwell School of Syracuse University. He has been CEO of a Government company working for promoting and facilitating inclusive growth, entrepreneurship development, climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

Shri Pankaj Jain

Shri Pankaj Jain

Mr. Pankaj Jain is an IAS officer of the 1990 batch, currently Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He is an alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce from where he has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce followed by an MBA from FMS Delhi. He also has a professional qualification in the discipline of accounting as an Associate of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India

Mr. Pankaj Jain has worked for the Governments of Assam and Meghalaya. This encompasses being District Magistrate at Shillong and Tura along with assignments in the Secretariat and State Corporations dealing with Power, Planning, Information Technology, Livelihood Promotion and Industries as well as being Director with the Government of India in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

His work experience also includes a three year stint with the British International Aid Agency - the Department for International Development (DFID) as Governance Adviser and Senior Program Manager. His areas of interest include Intellectual Property Rights where he has collaborated with UNIDO to develop an IPR guide for the Indian Toy Industry. He has also been a consultant to the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Asian Productivity Organisation on adoption of IT by small and medium enterprises in India and Bangladesh.

Mr. G K Kansal is an ex-banker, retired as Chief General Manager from State Bank of India. He has rich experience of 36 years across all areas of banking viz, corporate credit, retail banking, risk management, rural banking, financial inclusion, customer service, etc. He has vast field experience as Regional Manager, Deputy General Manager, and General Manager. He also had a stint at the Bank’s London Office.

Mr. V. Sathya Kumar, retired as Executive Director in Life Insurance Corporation of India, has vast experience in Life Insurance. His expertise lies in Life Insurance Marketing and Operations. He is experienced in Housing Finance and Senior Living Projects. Mr. Sathya Kumar had a stint as Chief Executive Officer, LIC HFL Care Homes Ltd. He also headed the Management Development Centre of LIC, which trains middle and senior management executives of the Corporation. Having worked in senior positions in many parts of the country, he is known for his adaptability, team building skills and leadership qualities

Mr. S.K. Bansal is working as Chief General Manager of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and at present posted at its Madhya Pradesh Regional Office, Bhopal. He is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI, New Delhi, Cost Accountant from ICWAI, Kolkata and holds Diploma in Treasury and Forex Management from ICFAI, Hyderabad.He is having vast experience of 34 years out of which 22 years as senior executive at NABARD as an Investment Manager, Financial Consultant and Development Banker. He has also having Board level experience in organizations like NABCONS, UCX & NABVENTURE. Shri Bansal was also in charge of Chhattisgarh RO.Mr. Bansal also proven his expertise as member of important Committees like (i) Working Group on KCC constituted by DFS, MoF, GoI to review the Kisan Credit Card Scheme; (ii) Sarangi Committee on Interest Subvention and DBT; and (iii) Project Management Group where he headed the group which in consultation with Boston consultancy group introduced redesigned financial and developmental products at NABARD.

Mr. G Gopalakrishna was the Director, Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) from 21st April 2014 to 20th April, 2017. CAFRAL was set up by Reserve Bank of India to develop into a world class global institution for research and learning in banking and finance. Before joining CAFRAL, he was Executive Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Mr. Gopalakrishna, a career Central Banker for over 33 year mainly worked in the area of Banking and Non-Banking Regulation and Supervision.He was the Chairman and Member of several Working Groups set up by the Bank/Government of India. During 2011, he Chaired the Working Group on Information Security, Electronic Banking Technology, Risk Management and Cyber Frauds, the recommendations of which have been implemented April 2011. The RBI guidelines has become benchmark standard for the Industry in information security, information audit, I.T. Governance and Cyber frauds. He authored the Central Credit Registry created by RBI in 2014 for reporting large value credits. In 2014 Mr. Gopalakrishna Chaired the Committee constituted to examine the recommendations of FSLRC relating to Capacity Building in Banks and non-banks. The report has been accepted and implemented by the Reserve Bank of India.

Mr. Ashish Gupta, is the Managing Director and Head of India Research at the Credit Suisse Securities India Pvt. Ltd. He earlier served as the Portfolio Manager of Legatum Capital and also as an analyst in CLSA covering sectors like cement, banking and auto. Mr. Gupta is regarded for his insights on the Indian Banking sector and has authored several marquee reports including the “House of Debt” series. He is instrumental in publishing the Corporate Health Tracker, which is actively followed across the banking sector.

Ms. Garg has extensive experience spanning private equity investing, operations and finance roles with respected organizations like IFC (a part of the World Bank Group). Discovery Networks and PwC.

Ms. Garg has deep experience in the South Asia region, including structuring and implementing complex business transactions and partnerships in a variety of settings. Her professional journey has had a consistent entrepreneurial theme involving building of businesses and teams, and has allowed her to develop a wide range of technical and functional skills. Her areas of expertise include private equity, strategy, investments and finance, governance and operations.

Ms. Garg regularly speaks at key global and regional conferences and is featured in leading business and industry publications. She is an active member of the Executive Committee and the Limited Partner Council at the Indian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (IVCA), involved in industry development initiatives including developing and delivering trainings and workshops for domestic and other fund investors.

Ms. Garg holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management, has executive education from Harvard Business School and is a Chartered Accountant.
